(title within the piece)

a dress rehearsaL this isn't
you on the big stage
and the audience is watching
in real time, all the time

there are no second takes
and there wIll defintely be no re-runs
this is it, right here, right now
get it right

or at least as right as you can
you are bound to make your own fair share
of stupid gooFs and mindless blunders
accept that fact and get on with the script

but make sure it's a script you wrote
or at the very least co-wrote
coz at the end of the day it's your stage
and wE only see what you want us to

I'm like a river

Well, not quite
But close
Quite close

All rivers have a source
They start somewhere
And end somewhere else

Rivers also enrich others
Humans, animals and vegetation
As they go from source to end

I have a source - God's Love
I have an end - God's Love
Told you I'm like a river...

It's just the "enriching others" part I'm yet to nail down

Difficult people, merely other limitations in life

Difficult people, we all have two or three in our lives
People who insist on putting us in boxes
Who demand certain behaviours from us
Who want our life, or at least a part of it
On their terms, to suit their preferences

What to do with these people?
How to relate to them?
Do we accept defeat and get walked over?
Or do we stand up, speak for ourselves, and risk it all
Risk being ostracized from the work place
From the family, from the church
For these peoples’ influence can run wide and deep

I suggest there is a middle ground
A path we can walk that will appease the would be gods
Without us neither needing to lose our sense of self
Nor feeling like sell outs

The path is to accept the simple fact
That life is full of limitations
And that difficult boss, lover or neighbour
Is just another limitation to accept
Accept it for what is, the same way you accept a cold

Let me take the analogy further
You get a cold, first things that comes to mind
Is you wish you didn’t have it
But you accept it, that’s the crucial first step
Then you go about doing something about it
But you can’t cure the cold; you can only let it run its course
So you find ways of making yourself more comfortable
While the cold runs its course
And when it’s done you feel better and get on with your life

Likewise let us accept, though not embrace, our difficult people
They are but a passing phase
We will do best to make ourselves more comfortable
As we endure the type of pain they generate

But we cannot run from them all, alas, the world is full of them
Most men would rather be masters of others
Than masters of themselves
Self mastery is tough
Staying fit, staying relevant in today’s world
Being successful, having a say in your community
Those are difficult things to achieve
It’s a lot easier to snap at an employee
Or at a playful child, to rule in a little kingdom
Than to face the world at large and take it on
Don’t be deceived; difficult people are often the biggest cowards

We will always have difficult people with us
Just like we will always have the poor
And we will always have limitations in life
We will die, we will fall sick
These are the things life is made of, we cannot escape them
Limitations are here to stay
And we will do well to get used to them

Let us get used to them then
And seek to make the best of the life we have
Within the boxes they define

Of course we are free to choose our limitations
We are free to chose the tyrants we subject ourselves to
We can dump an abusive lover
We can change jobs to stop working for a condescending boss
But wherever we go, we will find limitations

And we will come face to face with one brutal fact
The world was here before us, long before us
And we play a role in it on its terms, not ours

And in that we realize one simple truth
Life is about seeking happiness within our limitations

Learning under your gaze

My head on your lap
Looking up at you
Watching you
Watching me

Your eyes touch my face
Tender strokes
Warm to the skin
Like golden rays from the sun

I wish I could see me
The way you see me
Love me
The way you love me

Teach me...

Where do you end...

...and where do I begin?

My head riding your heart beat
Left arm underneath your waist
Right hand grasping your left
My right thigh in between yours
Your left thigh in between mine

I am yours, you are mine
I am you, you are me
At least for now...

Impact the world today!

You're a thought in God's mind
He's pictured you just as you are
And He's placed you on a spot in space-time
You're on Earth, in a particular country
And you're in the 21st century

You're anchored to Earth via your body
You need your body to affect the world
Your body needs you to live

It all makes sense
A seamless sum of parts

Now, do you honestly think God went through all that trouble for nothing?!?

You have a purpose
There's a reason why you're still alive
Why He maintains you by thinking about you

But the time will come
When His thoughts of you will place you on another plane

Make haste while the sun shines
Impact the world today!

Shhhh...

...session of quiet desperation in progress!

My father(land) has failed me
My brothers hate each other
My mother has no love in her

Who will take this man-child?

Describing what you can’t experience (the case of the time-travelling, deaf aliens)

Imagine if you will - time traveling aliens from the year 3057 are visiting 21st century Earth. These aliens can’t hear, but their other four senses are intact. They observe mankind from their space ship, invisible to the naked eye and undetectable by radar. They’ve come to study the phenomenon of the box.

The box. They can’t understand it. For decades they’ve watched man build a life around the box. They’ve watched people congregate at night time in dark places, so they can jump up and down. All because of the box. They’ve watched man, at other times, sit in the comfort of his home, in front of the box, and smile. Or sleep.

They’ve watched man make love and reach un-describable ecstasy, seemingly being carried along by the box, by the energy pulses emanating from it. Sometimes the pulses come in short bursts, other times they come in longer bursts.

Their equipment picks up the “radiation”. The needles jump all over the place for some boxes, and for others the needles seem to glide. Different radiations seem to have different effects – some cause people to cry, some cause humans to move in confusing patterns, and others bring a smile to the humans (especially when there are two of them – of opposite sexes – receiving the radiation).

The aliens notice the boxes everywhere –mankind has the boxes in their transportation machines. Some have them in the places where they congregate to spend the majority of their day light hours. And practically all places where the subjects meet in the night time hours have boxes; the boxes in these places seem to generate the most radiation.

Can you see the aliens writing books about the box? Can you see them coming up with different theories to explain the boxes' effects on the humans? All their theories would be wrong of course!

You can’t describe what you can’t experience. You can’t understand what you don’t live. Now ask yourself, in what way are you being like the imaginary aliens?

Narnia

She calls me Narnia
Coz it’s like going through the wardrobe
Every time we’re together

Keep on snickering

You can’t see beyond
The riches you snicker at
And if you can’t see something
You definitely can’t have it
But rest assured
You can have what you see
What you scorn

thinking/doing

The winning is in the doing
Not in the thinking

If you think without doing
You can never win

If you do without thinking
You could possibly win

But if you do with thinking
You are much likelier to win
